About us

IVA is a meeting place for Sweden's future

For 100 years, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) has been a meeting place for Sweden's future. IVA brings together the expertise and experience of around 1,200 elected Academy members and 250 companies. We build bridges between business, government, academia and politics.

IVA is an accessible expert body independent of vested interests, ideologies and party politics. We believe in and promote the ability of people to make a positive contribution to society through technical and economic science. IVA is funded by contributions from industry, project and government grants. An important task for the Academy is to be a meeting place, and its own activities organise around 120 meetings and seminars each year in its own premises.

Over time, an efficient and well-equipped conference centre has developed and in the early 1980s the step was taken to open the IVA Conference Centre for external customers. Today, the conference centre is one of Stockholm's most popular meeting places, welcoming large and small companies for conferences, general meetings, dinners and events. The centre has ten rooms of varying sizes. Everything from smaller meeting rooms to the large auditorium. Meals are served in the beautiful banqueting hall on the upper floor, also called Banquet Hall.

With eminent engineers and economists

IVA's network consists of eminent engineers and economists from industry, universities and government. With nearly 1200 elected Swedish and foreign members and some 250 members of IVA's Business Council, the Academy constitutes a qualified pool of expertise. IVA also cooperates with foreign academies and is involved in Euro-CASE, the joint organisation for European engineering academies. IVA's members are divided into twelve sections with regular meetings and their own programme activities. IVA also runs a large number of projects on many topical subjects. Seminars are organised on a regular basis and are free and open to all.

Our values

IVA is a non-profit, non-partisan academy that aims to promote Sweden's competitiveness and sustainable development. Our sustainability work is therefore a high priority. By taking a stand on important societal issues based on a scientific foundation, the projects "Attractiveness for sustainable growth" and "Resource-attractive business models" have produced reports that contribute to and influence discussion and knowledge dissemination.

IVA's new strategy focuses on four areas: World-class knowledge, Business of the future, Climate-Resources-Energy and People-Technology-Society. It is within these areas that IVA will tackle the many important questions that require answers to solve societal challenges.
Our core values, which underpin the whole IVA including the Conference Centre, are as follows:

Quality - Courage - Integrity

These core values are complemented by the conference centre's own selected values.

At IVA Conference Centre, we work to ensure that our activities are always permeated by:

Service - Safety - Functionality - Accessibility

Business concept

"By being an accessible, functional and safe meeting place with great personal service, for everyone who needs a place to meet, we want IVA Conference Centre to be the obvious choice in central Stockholm"

Vision

Our dream is to share our passion: combining classic hospitality with modern spaces that surprise.

Our purchases

Members of the Nordic Ecolabelling network
The Nordic Ecolabelling Network for Responsible Purchasing is an organisation for companies that want support in their purchasing work. Nordic Ecolabelling aims to prioritise ecolabelled goods and services and make them an integral part of all purchasing processes.

As we are a conference centre that does not have its own kitchen, we cannot be classified according to the Nordic Ecolabel criteria.
