A meeting place for Sweden's future
IVA Conference Center is today one of Stockholm's most popular meeting places and welcomes large and small companies and organizations for conferences, general meetings, dinners, and other types of events. There are ten rooms here in varying sizes. Everything from smaller meeting rooms to the large auditorium. Meals are served in the beautiful banquet hall, called Bankettsalen, on the upper floor.
IVA Conference Centre is owned and operated by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), which is the world's oldest academy of engineering sciences and has been operating in the property on Grev Turegatan since its inception in 1919.
Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) is an independent academy tasked with promoting the technological and economic sciences and business development for the benefit of society. IVA has approximately 1,300 elected Swedish and international members, and 250 member companies in IVA's Business Council.
The members are divided into twelve departments. The departments monitor and work on issues within their respective fields, including by organising open seminars and other activities linked to current global events. The departments participate in IVA's programmes, projects and consultation responses within their specialist areas.
Since 2025, IVA has been driving the visions project Swedish Futures, with the goal of developing an anchored, overarching vision for Sweden as a global technology and innovation nation by 2035, focusing on competitiveness, sustainability, and security.
The work shall answer the questions:
- What's the situation today?
- Where are we going?
- Where do we want to go?
The work involves IVAs' 1300 members, along with a wide selection of stakeholders from various parts of society: politics, business, academia, social partners, representatives from the public sector and the non-profit sector.
A clear international perspective is common to all parts of the project, where Swedish strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks are contextualised in relation to developments globally, within the EU and at a Nordic level. Swedish Futures is implemented with financial support from a large number of actors.
