Grodan is a new classic

Restaurang Grodan, or La Grenouille as it was originally called, opened in September 1985 and has since then supplied us at IVA Conference Centre with delicious food. This means that Grodan celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2025 with the same owners and at the same address.

However, a pub has been run on the premises since the end of the 19th century. The restaurant is divided into different environments with a classic, historic dining room, a lounge area, a convivial bar and a cosy wine bar on the lower level. There are also a couple of tables located more privately; ask for table 39 or 48. The banqueting hall upstairs was also a banqueting hall when the property was completed in 1898. In the beautiful dining rooms, which can seat 180 guests, there is a dedicated head chef and restaurant manager with serving staff who ensure everything is of the highest standard.

Restaurant Grodan is truly unusual, as it is a tavern created in symbiosis with its guests. Regulars and the younger crowd enjoy themselves here, creating a convivial and pleasant atmosphere. The tasting experience is guaranteed by our talented chef, Luis Subirana, and restaurant manager Paulina Melkas Vila, who together ensure that the menu and wine recommendations go hand in hand.

There are different environments under one roof, all for the right occasion. Would you like to sit in the lounge, the church, the back room, or the beautiful dining room?

 

Wine tasting for the conference?

Downstairs is the wine bar, a cosy, secluded area for events and dinner parties.
The large wine cellar holds thousands of bottles and many exquisite rarities.

The raw materials of Grodan

  • All food purchases go through Grodan, which buys locally produced and organic food as far as it is available at a price that is not too expensive
  • The range of drinks (wine/beer) is available at around 15%
  • Leftover food is composted and turned into biogas
  • Organic milk
  • Fairtrade coffee
  • No bottled water. Fresh filters Grodans own water, still/bubble
  • Prioritising organic fruit and vegetables

An innovative classic among Stockholm pubs

Since Grodan opened in 1985, the restaurant has been serving good food to our guests here at the IVA Conference Centre. Grodan can also boast the same owner since then.

Mats Broström, one of the owners and who runs Grodan, says that he bows and thanks for the help of the guests who navigated the restaurant to what we have become - "a classic among Stockholm pubs with an ambience that cannot be designed or presented in PowerPoint format".
